Industry leaders in Bangkok to discuss Asia’s future energy needs

Almost 200 Global Leaders will take the stage at Future Energy Asia Exhibition and Conference 2020 to address Asia’s rapidly evolving energy mix and showcase strategies that energy professionals can adopt to accelerate energy transition towards a cleaner sustainable energy future. H.E. Sonthirat Sontijirawong, Minister, Ministry of Energy of the Kingdom of Thailand, will officially open the conference and exhibition and deliver the inaugural keynote at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center (BITEC) when the event starts on 12 February 2020. Attendees will hear from C-level executives representing Thailand’s energy leading organisations, including EGAT, PTT Group, PTTEP and the Ministry of Energy. Energy leaders from Thailand’s ASEAN neighbors Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Singapore will also attend the conference, as public and private sector experts around the region share what they are doing at a policy and project level to meet the estimated 60 percent energy demand growth. The three-day conference presents a complete tool kit for energy transition in Asia. The first day focuses on Integration: discussions will give deep insights into how renewables and natural gas can be used to deliver a sustainable and clean energy future. On day two, the focus will be on partnerships, especially regional energy partnerships within ASEAN, as well as partnerships between the public and private sectors that can help drive energy transition. The final day focuses on transformation, and looking into how disruptive innovation can impact the region’s future energy mix. Autotalks’ Chipset selected for mass production C-V2X program in China

Autotalks, a world leader in V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) communication solutions, has had its chipset was selected for a mass production C-V2X program in China, one of the first to be deployed in the huge Chinese market. This is the first mass-production C-V2X program for Autotalks, which consists of a Telematics Control Unit (TCU) with C-V2X powered by Autotalks’ chipset, built by a top Tier1 automotive provider. The selection of Autotalks’ chipset for the project followed rigorous testing and evaluation that proved the leading radio performance and greater level of security of its C-V2X solution, as well as the chipset’s thermal resiliency and true transmit diversity. Additionally, Autotalks’ ability to meet the strict schedule was instrumental. The company’s production grade C-V2X solution meets all Chinese performance, configuration, throughput and security requirements and is now ready for deployment there as well as in other markets. This follows extensive testing in China over the past year. According to the research firm IHS Markit, China is expected to lead the global V2X market, with an estimated 629,000 light vehicles produced in the region equipped with C-V2X technology in 2020, and the country is expected to stay in the lead through to 2024. TAG Aviation Asia authorised service facility for Bombardier business aircraft in Hong Kong

TAG Aviation Asia has been appointed as an Authorized Service Facility for Bombardier Aviation in Hong Kong. This approval includes the Bombardier Global 5000 GVFD, Global 6000 GVFD, Global 7500, and the Challenger 605, for line maintenance services in the region. “We are proud to receive this appointment by Bombardier. The development of adaptive, reconfigurable equipment, processes, and systems will enable the rapid reconfiguration of enterprises to meet competitive pressures but will also improve the integration of human and technology resources, enterprise-wide concurrency, and the development of revolutionary processes. Second, research on modelling and simulation will help meet the challenges for enterprise-wide concurrency, the utilisation of human and technological resources, the conversion of information to knowledge, and the rapid reconfiguration of manufacturing enterprises. Finally, research on information technology will help to meet all the grand challenges. Hitachi completes construction of H1 Tower in Guangzhou

Hitachi Elevator (China) Co., Ltd., a manufacturing, sales and service company for the elevators and escalators of Hitachi, has completed its construction of the H1 TOWER, one of the world’s tallest (1) elevator test towers, in its research, development, and manufacturing facility in Guangzhou, China. The H1 Tower, whose purpose is researching and developing elevators and demonstrating relevant leading-edge technologies, is a facility that functions as a global base for Hitachi’s elevator and escalator business. The building is 288.8 meters in overall height, including a tower of 273.8 meters above ground and a basement that reaches 15 meters below ground, and features one of the world’s tallest (1) elevator test towers. The tower, equipped with 15 test shafts, the total length of which exceeds 2.2 kilometers including a shaft over 250 meters long, has the capability to develop and test a variety of technologies and products such as ultra-high-speed elevators, high-capacity elevators, double-deck elevators and operation control system. Hitachi and Hitachi Elevator (China) seek to develop innovative technologies and products by leveraging the research and development conducted at the H1 Tower. In April 2010, Hitachi constructed the G1 Tower, the world’s tallest elevator research tower (at the time) reaching 213.5 meters above ground in Japan, to respond to the growing demand for high-speed, high-capacity elevators in the global elevator and escalator market. Grundfos digital lab to boost adoption of intelligent water solutions

Global pump manufacturer Grundfos yesterday inaugurated its digital lab in Singapore – the first of its kind by the industry leader in Asia-Pacific – as a strategic initiative to drive greater adoption of intelligent water solutions in the region. The lab will showcase Grundfos’ range of iSOLUTIONS products, which leverage intelligent technology to deliver optimal performance, greater energy efficiency and reliability. These products are used for a wide range of applications across sectors – from water distribution and wastewater treatment by water utilities, pressure boosting and heating, ventilation and air conditioning in commercial buildings, to industrial applications such as washing, cleaning and industrial cooling. Key solutions on showcase include the Grundfos SMART Digital XL DDA and DDE dosing pumps, which enable accurate chemical dosage across numerous production processes including drinking water, wastewater treatment, and industrial processing, reducing chemical consumption by 5 to 19 per cent. ASIA’S mega trade deal moves on without India

India’s exit makes the pact smaller but clears the path to implementation. After seven years of talks, hopes were high that Asia’s largest proposed free trade deal would finally be ratified by the end of 2019. Then India announced it was quitting. The 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries and their six trading partners — Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, and South Korea — met in November 2019 to conclude negotiations for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). But domestic opposition and concerns over the potential impact on local producers led India to pull out. “When I measure the RCEP agreement with respect to the interests of all Indians, I do not get a positive answer,” Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi told other RCEP leaders at the 35th ASEAN Summit in Bangkok, Thailand. “Therefore, neither the talisman of Gandhi nor my own conscience permits me to join RCEP.” India’s withdrawal deals a blow to RCEP but does not necessarily spell disaster for the bloc. If some observers are right, it might even speed up the signing of the pact by removing the deadlock in negotiations between India and China. UNADDRESSED CONCERNS RCEP would improve market access for products, services, and capital within Asia Pacific and become a major force in global trade. With India, it would have accounted for more than 28 percent of global trade. But India was long convinced the terms of the pact would disadvantage the country more than it would benefit it. India runs trade deficits with most of the 15 RCEP members. Hitachi’s Omika Works recognised as “Advanced 4th Industrial Revolution Lighthouse” by the WEF

Hitachi is first Japanese company to be listed. Hitachi Ltd. has announced that the Omika Works, which manufactures information control systems for social infrastructure systems and industries, was recognised by the World Economic Forum (WEF) as a Lighthouse advanced factory. The Omika Works is a factory showcasing Hitachi’s Lumada solutions which combines OT, IT and products. It has been solving issues and creating new businesses by mobilizing its technologies and expertise in a variety of fields leading to total optimisation and sophistication in the entire value chain which were recognised by WEF. The Omika Works is the first factory of a Japanese company to be recognized as a manufacturing Lighthouse. SmArtr app to reduce downtime for critical infrastructure

In line with Thailand’s transformation into a digital economy, global pump manufacturer Grundfos today announced the launch of its new cloud-based service app in Thailand to reduce downtime for key infrastructure in the country.
