Atlas Copco to acquire Chinese manufacturer of liquid ring pumps and systems

Atlas Copco has agreed to acquire the assets of Shandong Bozhong Vacuum Technology Co., Ltd, a company that develops and manufactures liquid ring vacuum pumps and systems. Shandong Bozhong Vacuum Technology was founded in 2002 and is located in Zhangdian District, Zibo, Shandong province, China. In 2021, they had revenues of approximately 90 MCNY (120 MSEK*). The company has 116 employees, and a broad customer base in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries in China as well as globally. “Shandong Bozhong Vacuum Technology is an experienced manufacturing and machining company,” said Geert Follens, Business Area President Vacuum Technique. “This acquisition adds a company with good reputation for their high-quality standards and aligns with our local-for-local strategy.” The acquisition is expected to close in Q1, 2023. The purchase price is not disclosed. The acquired business will become part of the Industrial Vacuum Division within the Vacuum Technique Business Area.

JE Cleantech expands capabilities into tech hardware

JE Cleantech Holdings Limited has announced the receipt of a new order by its subsidiary, JCS-Echigo Pte Ltd, from a major customer in Singapore. Under this new order, the group will design, develop and manufacture a new precision cleaning system under the customer’s specified requirements. The new order is valued at approximately US$700,000 and represents an expansion of JE Cleantech Holding’s presence in the tech hardware industry. The new customer designs and manufactures sensor products. The new customer is part of the international group that serves clients worldwide. With the new precision cleaning system by JCSE, the new customer will be able to deliver better services to its customers. JE Cleantech Holdings has experience in manufacturing precision cleaning systems for a wide range of sectors – past orders include cleaning and equipment manufacturing for hard disk drives, semiconductors, biomedical, food and beverage, and industrial electronics companies. As a leading homegrown industrial manufacturer with a long and proven track record, the entry into this new sector demonstrates JE Cleantech’s ability to apply its expertise to different sectors to scale and support its growth. The precision-cleaning equipment manufacturing market in Singapore is estimated to reach an estimated S$143.0 million by 2025, marking a CAGR of 9.0 percent over the forecasted period. It also reflects an optimistic market outlook for the precision cleaning industry. The group also provides cleaning equipment and centralised washing services for food courts, hawker centers, restaurants, cookhouses, eldercare homes, and an inflight catering service provider. Mitsubishi Corp signs agreement for carbon sequestration

Mitsubishi Corporation has signed a participation agreement with Sempra Infrastructure, TotalEnergies and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. for the development of the proposed Hackberry Carbon Sequestration (HCS) project at the site in Southwest Louisiana. The project aims to capture, transport and sequestrate carbon dioxide (CO2), primary sourced from Cameron LNG, and the participation agreement provides the basis for the parties to potentially enter into a joint venture with Sempra Infrastructure for the HCS project. Last summer, the Hackberry Carbon Sequestration, LLC, which is owned by Sempra Infrastructure, filed an application for a Class VI injection well permit from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for permanent storage of up to 2 million tonnes per annum of CO2. As underpinned in both Roadmap to a Carbon Neutral Society and Midterm Corporate Strategy 2024, announced in October 2021 and May 2022 respectively, MC is placing greater emphasis on energy transformations (EX). By lowering the carbon footprint throughout the LNG value chain through CCS and other EX initiatives, MC hopes to spearhead future transformations and help societies to decarbonise by providing a stable supply of clean energies. “We are thrilled to participate in a business opportunity that could potentially lower the carbon intensity of LNG produced from the Cameron LNG Project, through which we will be able to provide additional value to our customers,” said Masaru Saito, Senior Vice President and Division COO, North America Div., Mitsubishi Corporation. “CCS promises to play an important role in achieving net-zero emissions on a global scale, so we are excited about making this project happen and looking forward to expanding our CCS business portfolio.” The development of the HCS project is subject to risks and uncertainties, including signing definitive agreements, securing all necessary permits, and reaching a final investment decision.

King Steel rolls out proprietary mechatronic technology MICS

King Steel Machinery Co., Ltd (King Steel), a worldwide full service steel supplier with a long-term commitment to injection molding machines with multiple injectors and multiple tool workstations, has developed a multiple injectors and mold clamps system (MICS). This is a mechatronic system that can be equipped with four injector sets and is used flexibly to produce double/single-color finished products with linear, disc or mould configuration, reducing costs by 15 per cent to 20 per cent. By increasing the number of injector sets for double-color offerings from two to four, King Steel has significantly enhanced the production capacity of such machines by 70 per cent, with an equipment utilisation of up to 95 per cent. By doing so, the company has become a leader in the footwear machinery sector. “Machines that were developed based on MICS have helped customers improve efficiency and costs”, said Chang Chia-ling, director of marketing at King Steel. Use of Siemens’ digital twin software NX-MCD (an integrated cyber-physical system) has increased R&D efficiency while lowering development costs. King Steel has applied for some 100 international patents across 17 categories for its proprietary machinery in a move to protect the firm’s intellectual property as well as the rights and interests of customers and brands. MICS technology has been widely applied across various injection processes and sectors, including sports goods (sneakers, yoga bars, non-inflatable footballs, bike gadgets and accessories), healthcare products, protective gear as well as toys for children and pets, in addition to electronics and packaging materials. Through the application of MICS, the company aims to maximise output with minimum investment by assisting a wide range of sectors in increasing production capacity and achieving environmental benefits from energy savings and carbon reduction.

Kaer expands operations in six major cities in India

Kaer, a Global Cooling as a Service (CaaS) provider headquartered in Singapore, is expanding its operations in six major cities in India – Bengaluru, Gurugram, Noida, Chennai, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
