Smart Classrooms Aren’t Just for the Urban Elites – BenQ Helps Bring Educational Equity to Life

Looking after tomorrow. India and Indonesia are kindred spirits of sorts; they are both countries with large populations that are incredibly diverse in their language, culture, and religion. What also makes them similar is the importance they place on education, especially as a driver of national growth and development as well as inclusivity and equality. While both countries have made good progress in improving the quality and accessibility of education, they both continue to see a digital and educational divide, especially between rural and urban areas. According to the latest findings, rural children still have much room for improvement in terms of foundational skills such as reading and arithmetic. Currently, only 60% of rural youth can read simple English1. Likewise in Indonesia, rural children lag behind their urban counterparts, and less than six in ten primary school children in West Java achieved the minimum national benchmark in reading and a quarter in mathematics2. Epson Plans Construction of Biomass Power Plant

The company’s first power plant aims to use renewable electricity Epson has announced planning for the construction of the their first biomass power plant in Iida City, in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. Epson hopes to have the plant in operation in the 2026 fiscal year (ending March 2027) and is working to secure the land and buildings, contract construction, and file the paperwork for power generation. Conceptual drawing of the Minami-Shinshu Biomass Power Plant Epson is publicly committed to becoming carbon negative and underground resource free in Environmental Vision 2050. The use of renewable electricity is a key means by which Epson seeks to reach its goal of decarbonisation and, in December 2023, Epson completed the switch to 100% renewable electricity at all Epson Group sites around the world. The new power plant is intended to provide Epson with self-generated renewable electricity on a continuous basis and reduce the ratio of electricity the company purchases from external power companies, thereby promoting wider public adoption of renewable electricity. Epson plans to construct the plant on the site of the former Kiribayashi Clean Center, which the Minami Shinshu Wide-Area Union shut down in December 2017. The electricity generated will be sold to the market under a feed-in premium (FIP) scheme, and Epson will convert the electricity that it uses into renewable electricity by leveraging the environmental value created through power generation. Moreover, the power is expected to be supplied to local facilities in the event of a disaster or other emergency. The power plant will not depend on fossil fuels. It will be fueled primarily by unused wood from the Minami Shinshu area, as well as by materials such as tree bark, mushroom culture medium, and some waste wooden pallets from Epson. Tell readers what it is that you do? I am the country manager for Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei at Rockwell Automation. My team and I primarily work with manufacturers in industries such as life sciences, semiconductors, and oil and gas, helping them to be more productive and more sustainable. My responsibilities also include enhancing the team’s capabilities to accelerate our growth in the region, capitalizing on the increasing demand for smart manufacturing solutions. Where are opportunities for growth for the company? I am based in Singapore, where the country’s strategic location and advanced infrastructure make it a hub for automation and Industry 4.0 technologies. Leading in robotics, predictive analytics, and now artificial intelligence (AI), the nation is spearheading technological advancements. The adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies, such as automation, IoT, and the latest industrial revolution, are reshaping the manufacturing landscape in Singapore and improving efficiency. According to our State of Smart Manufacturing Report, close to half (44%) of APAC manufacturers plan to adopt smart manufacturing within the next year; out of this, China (80%), Australia (60%) and India (59%) are already using some components of smart manufacturing. Korea Metaverse Industry Association enters MOU with Pixotope for XR solutions

The Korea Metaverse Industry Association (K-META), chaired by Shin Soojung, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Pixotope Technologies aiming to introduce advanced technologies and nurture experts in the metaverse and the virtual production industries. Pixotope is a global company leading innovation in the metaverse and media entertainment industries as the developer of XR solutions including virtual production, which is a core technology of the metaverse.
