NXP for Connected, Smart and Secure Internet of Things

Presentation and Showcase of 10 Smart Solutions at

IoT Asia Conference

On 30 and 31 March 2016, NXP Semiconductors N.V. (NASDAQ:NXPI) will showcase ten solutions for the Smart Nation at the upcoming Internet of Things (IoT) Asia Conference in Singapore. Additionally, Dr Hai Wang, Executive Vice President, Technology & Operations, NXP Semiconductors, will speak at the Conference’s Industrial IoT track on making the transition to real deployments of IoT solutions that are Connected, Smart and Secure.

On Day 1, 30 March 2016:

  1. a) 1:10pm – Presentation by Dr Wang titled Internet of Things – Connected, Smart, Secure
  2. b) 11:30am or 2:30pm – Demonstrations of 10 Smart Solutions

Title:                 Internet of Things – Connected, Smart, Secure

Synopsis:         Today, we are transitioning from an era of IoT “hype” to real deployments of IoT solutions across multiple markets. Behind every successful IoT implementation are three essential technological components – Connectivity, Smartness and Security. This session explores what technology is needed, examines the need smartness in IoT and discusses the types of security needed for smart.

Presenter:         Dr Wang has more than 25 years of experience in the semiconductor industry with management experience includes IC design, technology R&D, front end & back end operations, global sourcing, marketing and business development. He had served as Executive Vice President of R&D and Senior Vice President of External Manufacturing at NXP Semiconductors and participated in the amazing NXP transformation in the last five years. He now lives between Singapore and Netherlands with his family.

DEMONSTRATIONS OF 10 SMART SOLUTIONS

  • Smart Connectivity – demo of a wristband for payment, transit and access control. Yes, hop onto a bus or a train, listen to your music, buy a cup of coffee on way to work all with just that band on your wrist.
  • Smart Energy – demo of NXP’s plug and play energy solutions to simplify energy complexity and manage efficiency of equipment, process and operations.
  • Smart Health – 3 demos here: a) Temperature monitoring in cold chain controlled drugs or vaccines to ensure safety, efficacy and costs, b) An NFC smart phone and a smart blister (yes, a blister!) for Therapy Adherence – helping patients with chronic diseases adhere to their prescribed therapies, and c) Smart Pack in support of the Therapy Adherence demo.
  • Smart Home – One demo covering activation, automation, connectivity, control, convenience, notification, safety and security for the home.
  • Smart Mobility – A cool demo featuring a set of Traffic Lights, 2 toy cars along with a tablet and an RFID reader to showcase NXP’s V2X Traffic Light solution.
  • Smart Tag – demo featuring NXP’s NTAG which are passively powered IC solutions for smart inlays, labels and tags. This demo is for NXP’s NTAG210 designed for use in consumer interactive applications like gaming, authentication of goods or loyalty marketing with vouchers and coupons.
  • Smart Wearable – 2 demos here: a) Hexiwear, the open-source platform which NXP co-developed, for use in wearables like watches, heart-rate monitors, etc. and b) Ear buds, a unique solution for use in in-ear audio applications (consumes less energy and emit less radio waves than current Bluetooth solutions available today).
