LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA 2015

10th Anniversary, A Decade of the Highest Quality

On March 17-19, 2015, LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA celebrated its 10th anniversary at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. This year, the trade show again attracted leading exhibitors from around the globe to show their latest technologies and innovations. LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA continued its successful growth in all aspects: A total of 715 companies from 20 countries exhibited on an exhibition area of 36,960 square meters. In the three days, 40,291 industry professionals visited the trade fair.

Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer, Deputy CEO of Messe München International, responsible for the LASER World of PHOTONICS international network, praised the achievements of the Chinese platform: “LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA has successfully developed into one of the most important trade fairs in Asia for both international and Chinese companies.”

This year, many domestic enterprises were present: in addition to traditional giants such as Han’s and HG, they included Focuslight, Huaray, Raycus, Max, Delphi, Golden Laser and Huineng. According to Pfeiffer, another key factor is the strong presence of foreign companies: “The 22 percent increase in international exhibitors in the anniversary year 2015 demonstrates the high interest of international laser and photonics manufacturers in the Chinese market.”

Photonics PIC 4 PHOTONICS CONGRESS and supporting program well received by attendees and speakers

The PHOTONICS CONGRESS CHINA held concurrently with the trade show was highly accredited by the participants for its quality and international environment. It covered a wide range of hot topics, for example laser processing, advanced lasers, optics, IR imaging, laser safety and light beam analysis, as well as the latest findings in these areas.

Under the umbrella of the PHOTONICS CONGRESS CHINA, the 10th International Laser Processing and Systems Conference (LPC 2015) highlighted the topic of Industry 4.0.

LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA 2015 played host to a number of other supporting events: The 10th National Conference on Laser Technology and Optoelectronics and China Optoelectronic Industry and Technology Summit Forum, China Optoelectronic Industry and Technology Summit Forum, 2015 Industrial Application Forum on Optical Metrology, Workshop on Safety of Industrial Lasers and Systems Use, Advanced Training Course on Mode Locked Fibre Laser Technology, 2015 Shanghai International Forum on Modern Optical Manufacturing Engineering and Sciences.

The combination of scientific, research and industrial applications in these events facilitated the exchange of know-how between scientific and industrial experts, and showed its unique practical value.

A decade of growth into the biggest laser and photonics industry event in Asia

In the past 10 years, LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA has grown significantly both in terms of its quantity and quality. The number of exhibitors has soared from 163 in 2006 to 715 in 2015, and the exhibition area has increased from 6,000 square meters to a record-breaking figure of 36,960 square meters.

Visitor numbers are also growing continuously: starting with 8,557 visitors in 2006, LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA was able to attract 40,291 visitors in 2015.

Andreas Weller, General Manager of Laser Technology, TRUMPF (China) Co., Ltd. comments on the 10th edition of the show: “We were one of the founders of LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA, we have attended the show for 10 years. LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA is the most important event for our company every year. It has a considerable impact on our annual strategy.“

Focusing on four major areas: lasers and photonics, laser processing, optics and optical manufacturing, imaging and testing, LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA has now become the largest and most influential laser, photonics and optics event in Asia. At the first LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA in 2006, the exhibited products were mostly lasers, parts and laser marking machines. During the past few years, the trade fair has constantly introduced advanced laser technologies and their applications into China.

Through product exhibitions, academic communication and the exchange of know-how, the trade show has supported the development of the laser industry in China and the upgrade and transformation in application industries.

In 2015, LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA was again committed to providing the best laser solutions and focused on laser processing in industry applications. It covered laser applications in automotive, metal processing, shipbuilding, aerospace, military and defense, manufacturing, material processing, automation, mould, plastics and electronics.

In this age of Smart Manufacturing, the trade fair acted as an important platform for people to become acquainted with trends such as automation, visualization, remote control and minimization.

Exhibitors in the automation sector, e.g. KUKA, Fanuc and Stäubli, as well as 117 companies in machine vision technology complemented the industrial value chain of laser processing and offered users an integrated solution for vision-guided laser processing.

Feng Xu, Manager, SHANGHAI-FANUC Robotics CO., LTD said: “FANUC exhibited at LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA for the first time. Many visitors came to us with specific needs. FANUC specializes in laser cutting with robots, which is unique on the market. The customers are very professional.”

The Vision China exhibition, in cooperation with the China Society of Image and Graphics, once again increased its amount of exhibition space by 14 percent.

Sebastian Bollhorst, General Manager, The Imaging Source Asia Co., Ltd. stated: “The first time we attended the trade fair was in 2007. You can now see that many more companies are starting to participate. It is becoming more professional. This year, there are many customers from many different application industries, e.g. the medical and automotive industries.”

The next LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA will be held on March 15-17, 2016 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
